    TREATMENT FOR ACUTE KIDNEY FAILURE

    Treatment for Acute Kidney Failure

The immediate management of the patient with kidney impairment is directed towards three goals. The first is the treatment of any life-threatening complications of acute kidney failure. The second is prompt diagnosis and treatment of hypovolaemia. The third is specific treatment of the underlying condition: if this persists untreated then kidney function will not improve.

    1. Life-threatening Complication

    2. Fluid and electrolyte requirements in established acute kidney failure

    3. Kidney replacement therapy
